Nutrition
This two-part program aims to educate students about the nutrients required for optimal growth and development across the lifespan. It will explore patterns of physical development during prenatal development through to late adulthood and the nutrients required to support both growth and maintenance of the human body. Program one will examine the nutrient needs in pregnancy, infancy and childhood.
During adulthood, with the exception of when a female is pregnant, physical growth stops and our bodies enter a maintenance stage that continues until our last days. This program explores the complex range of nutrients required during our adolescence/youth and adulthood.
Visitors may look up the nutrient content of a particular food with the USDA's online search program.
