I always had the impression that Miss Whaley was a lot smarter than she ever let us guess. She was certainly extremely tolerant of odd behavior on all our parts, as well as her own. It was funny watching her line up her peanuts and play with them.

My father remembered Miss Whaley from Phillips High School, where he graduated in 1928. He said she didn’t look one bit different then, also that she was just as off-kilter and as nice then as when I had her.
