Memories – Faculty – Martha L. Trantham
Here’s what we remember about Mrs. Trantham
From SchoolGirl57:
I remember her precise coiffeur and the suits that she wore so well, also her comment in Latin Class one day that people had become much too careless with the niceties of meaning and language. “You raise pigs,” she declared, “but you rear children.”
I remember, too, how surprised I was when I introduced her to my father on a parent-teacher night and she behaved like anyone, smiling and giggling a little, even blushing. Mrs. Trantham was flirting with my father. Wow. Teachers could act like anybody else. It was a reassuring discovery.
