  • Great Athletes – Designed for middle and high school readers, this 8-volume set presents articles on the lives, sports careers, and unique achievements of athletes from around the world in more than sixty different sports. Every article contains a photograph of the athlete as well as "Additional Sources" such as books, articles, or web sites about the athlete or sport covered in the article.
  • Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives: Sports Figures – This two-volume set profiles 614 athletes representing the wide range of American sports from auto racing to wrestling. In addition to athletic accomplishments, each biography includes family background, influences, and achievements outside the realm of sports. Most of the entries range from two to three pages in length and include a black-and-white photograph.
