    Sign up and we will put any new book from a list of 90 popular authors on hold automatically for you.
  • Book Store
    The library book store is located in the Central library.
Facilities
  • Meeting Rooms
    Birmingham Public Library provides meeting rooms for use by community groups and organizations for a nominal fee. Meeting rooms are available at many of our branch locations.
Notary
  • Notary service is provided at most BPL locations. Call your location first to make sure notary staff is available. Walk-in service is possible, but notary staff availability is not guaranteed.

  • Alabama Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
    This service brings special format reading materials, playback equipment and other library resources to qualifying users.
  • Book a Virtual Program: Youth and Teens
    Schedule virtual programs for groups such as schools, daycares, and homeschoolers. Program appointment dates are available Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Books-by-Mail
    A unique service to residents of Jefferson County, Alabama, who are unable to go to the public library in person.
  • BPL Mobile
    The vehicle, called BPL Mobile, is far more than a traditional bookmobile. On BPL Mobile, patrons are able to take advantage of many services available in libraries across Birmingham such as books, computers, free Wi-Fi, notarizing, faxing, printing, story times, STEM programs and more.
