Jr. Pitmasters Cookbook Contest

Contest Form (pdf)

Waiver (pdf)

Birmingham Public Library is partnering with Dreamland Bar-B-Que to highlight creative students in grades K-8. Students throughout Jefferson County are invited to enter the Jr. Pitmasters recipe and art contest. Entries will be considered to be featured in a cookbook.  Please consider using this contest in the classroom to help reinforce the connection between math and literacy in the classroom and in real-world experiences. Deadline to enter is September 17, 2014.

The contest will not only highlight students' culinary skills but also teachers' skills in instructing students about how math and comprehension go hand in hand in every aspect of life, including the kitchen. The winning classroom recipe will win a party from Dreamland.

Submissions for the recipe contest should be sent to contactus@dreamlandlandbbq.com. Recipes must be submitted as a classroom.

There will also be an art contest. Students do not have to submit the art as a class. They may submit their own art for this part of the contest. The winner of the art contest will receive a $100 gift card from Dreamland. The best art will go on the cover of the book and be used as inside illustrations. The art work should be dropped off at Central's Youth Department. The deadline to enter the art contest is also September 17.
